Wohler's New RM Series Brings Unprecedented Functionality to Low-Cost HD Monitoring

HAYWARD, Calif. — July 29, 2008 — PANORAMAdtv, the video products division of Wohler Technologies Inc., today introduced the first products in its new RM series of high-definition (HD) monitor packs, which offer an unmatched array of features at an extremely competitive price point. Designed to enable affordable video and audio confidence monitoring, the compact yet comprehensive products in the RM series are ideal for use in mobile trucks, news and transmission control rooms, and duplication and post-production facilities.

"RM series monitoring systems allow broadcasters and other media companies to implement cost-effective monitoring systems without the tradeoffs typically required when purchasing lower-cost products," said Carl J. Dempsey, Wohler president and CEO. "While none of the features incorporated into RM series products are new, it is unusual to find them available at this price point. In this respect, nothing on the market today quite compares with our new RM series, which brings tremendous convenience to everyday monitoring operations."

Every new RM series HD monitor accepts formats up to 1080i60/30p and offers key functionality that enhances monitoring processes. Each SDI screen can display eight channels of VU over PPM audio level meters, UMD, safe areas, frame marks, cropping, switchable aspect ratios, as well as built-in color bars. The RM HD units also provide an active loop-through output for each SDI input. All settings are accessible from front-panel controls and the system's intuitive on-screen menu. As a fully inclusive solution, each model is designed for high-resolution HD imaging with NTSC and PAL autosensing built into the units, which accept two composite video inputs per screen on the same BNC used for HD/SD-SDI.

The first seven models in the RM series include five HD monitoring products: the 2RU RM-2443W-HD, with four 4.3-inch TFT/LCD widescreen monitors; the 3RU RM-3270W-HD, with dual 7-inch TFT/LCD widescreen monitors; the 3RU RM-3357W-HD, with three 5.7-inch TFT/LCD widescreen monitors; the 4RU RM-4290W-HD, with dual 9-inch TFT/LCD widescreen monitors; and the very compact 2RU RM-2435W-HD, with four 3.5-inch 4:3 TFT/LCD monitors.

The new RM series also includes two analog monitoring systems. In just 2RU, the RM-2443W-2C supports two composite inputs for each of four 4.3-inch widescreen monitors. The 3RU RM-3270W-A serves as the analog version of the RM-3270W-HD and features three composite inputs per screen.

In all of the RM series products announced today, the LCDs are mounted in a versatile chassis that allows the operator to rotate the display array ±55° in the vertical plane to achieve an optimum viewing angle. Red/green/yellow tally, as well as the in-screen UMD, can be interfaced to most tally systems.
