Mahwah, NJ (November 10, 2015) – Meredith Local Media Group recently installed a Telemetrics robotic camera control system at their KTVK and KPHO television stations in Phoenix, AZ. Meredith’s 17 owned or operated television stations reach more than 10% of U.S. households. The new Telemetrics system is an OEM solution offered by Grass Valley, a Belden Brand, and is tightly integrated with their Ignite Automated Production System. Ignite provides a complete link between the control room and the newsroom with single-operator capabilities so content can easily be repurposed for applications like digital multicasting and webcasts, and to increase overall production value.

"With Telemetrics camera robotics systems, we can put more cameras on robotics for less money, allowing us to provide additional coverage that we didn’t have before," said Walcott Denison, Director of Technology, Meredith. "Newscasts are tighter and much more responsive and, with Telemetrics camera robotics systems, our news anchors are able to interact a lot faster with the audience."

Meredith Local Media Group’s impressive 91,000 square foot facility in Phoenix is home to three completely independent studios supporting two local class A television stations, KTVK and KPHO. Two live production control rooms are outfitted with Grass Valley’s Ignite Automated Production System, Avid play-out, Wheatstone audio, and ten Telemetrics PTZ robotic heads with two control panels that can shade cameras, adjust shots, and save presets – features that are very important at a facility doing more than 16 hours of live news programming each day.

Installing Telemetrics camera robotics at KTVK and KPHO was an easy decision for the engineering team at Meredith considering how the robotics system tightly integrates with Ignite. Similar systems are also deployed at other Meredith locations including WNEM in Saginaw, MI, and WGGB in Springfield, MA, just to name a few.

"We are very proud to have our camera robotics systems deployed across Meredith’s broadcast operations," said Anthony Cuomo, President, Telemetrics. "We greatly appreciate the confidence that Meredith has placed in Telemetrics technology, which is testimony to the performance, quality and efficiency of our products."
