Christie ventures into charTED territory with support of local event

Kitchener, Ont. – (March 2, 2011) – Christie® a global visual technology company, is proud to support TEDxWaterloo, a volunteer-driven, full-day event bringing speakers and the community together at The Centre In The Square on Thursday, March 3 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. (Eastern Time).  Live streaming of the event will be available online at www.tedxwaterloo.com/livestream and mobile applications are also available at http://www.tedxwaterloo.com/mobile/.

Onstage at The Centre In The Square, 11 Christie® MicroTiles™ will resemble a bookshelf, providing digital graphics synchronized with the speeches of a dozen speakers – including Canadian astronaut Roberta Bondar and marathon swimmer Vickie Keith – while a 1 x 8 Christie MicroTiles array will display speakers’ names. An additional column of five Christie MicroTiles, located in the Exploration Area of the Centre’s lobby, will exhibit Twitter messages that capture the thoughts and conversations of the event. A Christie HD8K DLP® rear projector, offering high resolution, crisp images, will light up the speaker’s talking notes and co-ordinate with the content on the MicroTiles.

"We are excited to use the Christie MicroTiles on stage as a part of TEDxWaterloo," says Ramy Nassar, lead organizer, TEDxWaterloo. "It helps bring the event stage to life in a way never before seen in our community."

“Christie is pleased to support local initiatives that bring together community with distinguished speakers whose stories inspire thought, beliefs and action,” says Kathryn Cress, vice president,   global & corporate marketing, Christie.

Recipient of several industry awards since their launch in November 2009, Christie MicroTiles continue their rapid expansion into the digital signage marketplace. MicroTiles are ideal for a wide range of applications as they fit easily and seamlessly into any structure. They combine both DLP projection and Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology, thereby offering brighter images and a wider colour palette than conventional LCD or plasma displays.
