Scripps Stations Across the Country Upgrade to LED with Brightline

KERO-TV in Bakersfield, CA joins its sister stations across Scripps Broadcasting with an LED studio lighting conversion featuring Brightline soft lights, spotlights, fresnels and rear-lit scenic panels

Bridgeville, PA – February 1, 2024 – Since its founding motto of 1923, "Give light and the people will find their own way," Scripps Media continues to strive to shine a light on the truth. Now Brightline proudly shines its high-performance studio light in yet another Scripps' station, delivering its anchors more vibrantly to your video screens.

KERO-TV is the most recent E.W. Scripps TV station to upgrade their studio lighting with a full Brightline system. Long known for its audio innovations, Bakersfield was home to Bakersfield Sound, producing honky tonk and rock legends like Merle Haggard and Buck Owens.  Now the Bakersfield city adds video innovation to its roster, with KERO's new 100% Brightline lighting system that increases operating efficiency while enhancing video results.

From Brightline's all-in-one retrofit kit to turnkey lighting upgrades, over a dozen Scripps' stations are now showcasing hot new looks with cool new lights.

"Scripps has a storied history in journalism and cable and is well regarded for its latest multi-platform initiatives," says Sam Cercone, managing partner, Brightline. "Widely known for pioneering new technologies, the expansive lighting upgrades underway throughout the group further solidify its position as a broadcast innovator."

From Nashville and Cincinnati to Denver and Tampa, Brightline relights underscore the Scripps' commitment to sustainable technologies throughout all its endeavors. And when saving energy also enhances video aesthetics, the conversions are pure upside.

With turnkey packages that provide lighting for all aspects of the studio with wired or wireless DMX control, Brightline systems deliver improved performance, richer color saturation (97 CRI with 5600K), and a scalable approach to upgrading studios.

"With the retrofit kit, we can upgrade existing Brightline fluorescent systems to LED at an attractive cost through repurposing fixtures", says Cercone. "And the high-color rendering LEDs enhance video. Upgrading to LED reduces energy consumption, renews the lifetime of the fixtures, and lowers maintenance costs, providing significant savings."

Converting stations in Billings, Boise, Bozeman, Buffalo, Lexington, Milwaukee, Omaha and West Palm Beach, a team of skilled Brightline lighting directors have assisted local facilities with their installations.

Industry veteran Chris Boyd was the lighting director on the recent KERO-TV project. Chris emphasized that "Brightline LED fixtures offer the total package for studios of all sizes." Next up, Boyd will visit KMGH-TV in Denver to supervise their turnkey Brightline lighting conversion. With the new KMGH facility scheduled to air in March, viewers can welcome Spring while watching their fresh new look.

"We appreciate our long and mutually beneficial relationship with Scripps," adds Cercone, "and sharing our expertise to solve our clients' challenges is what it's all about for us. Like Scripps' founders said, Give light…"
