"Many headphones are either optimized for use with portable players or are designed to be used with home stereo systems," said Eric Palonen, product manager for consumer electronics and telecommunications products at Sennheiser's U.S. headquarters. "But many music lovers want headphones that can do both, and ones that can always be relied upon to offer superb sound, no matter the audio source."

The top-of-the-range HD 448 model offers a lifelike sound experience with precise detail. The HD 438 also offers a natural sound signature, while the HD 428 is more focused on the lower frequencies and delivers powerful bass response. Each model features a closed-back, around-the-ear design that provides impressive sound isolation. For perfect sound on a home stereo system, each headphone comes with a gold-plated quarter-inch stereo adapter.

EYE-CATCHING DESIGN

"Many people want headphones that not only sound great but also visually represent their style," Palonen said. "That's why our development team not only focused on achieving excellent sound, but also paid of a lot of attention to the headphones' appearance."

The HD 448 features an elegant retro design. Metallic trim elements with an embossed Sennheiser logo add a luxurious touch. Five high-gloss metallic "wheel spokes" adorn the ear cups of the HD 438, which are reminiscent of the alloy wheels on luxury sports cars. On the HD 428, a dark rubber coating provides a rugged, sporty design.

OTHER FEATURES

Ergonomic designs and soft padding allow the HD models to fit comfortably even after many hours of listening enjoyment. The single-sided cable ensures freedom of movement and uncomplicated handling.
