APC by Schneider Electric Announces Upgrade to MGE EPS8000 UPS Line, Now with Integrated Parallel Feature and Graphical Display
Posted on Monday, January 16, 2012

WEST KINGSTON, RI. – January, 2011 – APC by Schneider Electric, a global leader in integrated critical power and cooling services, today announced an upgrade to its MGE EPS8000 uninterrupted power supply (UPS) product family with the release of its Integrated Parallel feature and updated 12” Graphical Display. Parallel for capacity or redundancy, the MGE EPS8000 Integrated Parallel allows customers to easily configure up to 3+1UPS modules without a centralized static switch cabinet (SSC), enabling a higher level of availability than single module systems. And with a smaller footprint than traditional SSC-based designs and an online efficiency of up to 94 percent at full load, the Integrated Parallel feature offers an ideal, low CapEx solution for growing enterprises.

Designed for ease of expandability, each MGE EPS8000 Integrated Parallel module comes equipped with local paralleling boards that communicate with each other to create a completely synchronized output voltage. UPS controls reside in each MGE EPS8000 Integrated Parallel module, rather than in a centralized location or switchgear. When one module is removed from the parallel bus for service or an internal failure, this unique feature enables the remaining UPS modules to immediately accept the load of the failed UPS module. By enabling one module to be removed without requiring the critical load to be connected to straight utility, this feature mitigates system downtime and improves efficiency.

Adding to the EPS 8000 product family’s flexibility and usability, the new 12" Graphical User Interface (GUI) feature enables users to monitor current characteristics at the system level, including load and system voltage. Touch screen capable, the GUI also displays module status, the current number of modules on the parallel bus, and the number of modules needed in order to maintain redundancy in the system.

The MGE EPS 8000 family of products is the primary choice in the large data center market with its benchmark on quality and availability, from 555 to 1100kVA in a single box. Featuring 100% step-load capability, the UPS delivers clean, reliable power - even in the harshest of electrical environments. The MGE EPS 8000 UPS product family also interfaces with leading universal communication protocols and incorporates four communication slots in a rack mount, multi-slot case to support SNMP, J-Bus/ModBus and RS232-RS485 protocols for easy interfacing with most devices. The product line is able to support environments such as data centers and computer rooms, as well as industrial, medical imaging, factory floor and electrical room applications.
